Helambu circuit/ 10 days, 3690m

Helambu circuit trek is easy and provides spectacular views of the Langtang (7227m), Ganesh Himal (7405m), Dorje Lhakpa (6966m) and other mountains of Langtang Regions. Helambu is a region of highland villages around 72 kilometers Northeast of Kathmandu which begins at the Lauribina La pass and descends to the Melamchi valley. It is famous for its sweet apples and artistic Buddhist monasteries and it is a Buddhist pilgrimage site. The warm and friendly people here are mostly Buddhists. They are called Hyolmo. They mainly eat dal bhat, dindo (a mashed floor of maize or millet), potato, radish, and other vegetables. They drink a special tea which is prepared from tea leaves, milk, salt and butter which is called “Tibetan tea”. Houses in this area are made up of stone, mud and covered with tin and stone. They use firewood for cooking. Agriculture is their main occupation. They grow potatoes, radishes, beans and some other vegetables. There is no transportation, so if they have to bring anything from another village or from Kathmandu they must carry it by themselves.
Helambu cicruit trek is good one for the people who don’t have much time in Nepal. It is only 10-days trek which starts at Sundarijal and goes by Pati Bhanjyan, Chipling, Chisapani, Kutumsang, Mangengoath, Tharepati, Malamchigaon, Tarkeghyang. The ending point of the trek is Melamchi where you can take a bus back to Kathmandu. Another variation is the reverse of this trek.
